Facts & Figures about Design in India
The Indian M&E industry is projected to grow at a rate of 14% over the period 2016-21, with a CAGR of Digital Advertising at 28% and Animation & Visual Effects (VFX) industry at a of 16.4% and Gaming at 18.1%. The entertainment industry is projected to be worth more than US$ 62.2 billion by FY2025. The Indian film industry is the largest producer of films globally, with 400 production and corporate houses involved in film production. The size of the Indian film industry is expected to touch US$ 3.22 billion by 2021. up from US$ 2.21 billion in 2016 at a CAGR of 7.7%. The Media and Entertainment industry provided employment to between 3.5 – 4 million people including both direct and indirect employment. Digitization in rural areas, has led to an increase in demand for digital content and the total subscriber base for the Indian television industry was 183 million in 2017 and is expected to increase by around 10 million each year.
